Precise Solutions Now Available Through "EMC Select"

Precise recently launched Precise for Storage Tiering, developed exclusively for and with the help of EMC. Precise for Storage Tiering allows EMC customers to optimize performance of their storage environments and predict the impact of storage tiering decisions.

Precise has a long, successful history of working with EMC.  From 2000-2003, we provided the technology behind EMC’s popular DBTuner product.  On October 8th, Precise was accepted into the EMC Select program, giving customers the ability to easily purchase any Precise solutions directly through EMC.

“This partnership between Precise and EMC allows customers to more safely adopt new storage technology, such as Flash,” said Zohar Gilad, Precise’s EVP of Products, Channels, and Marketing.  “Precise for Storage Tiering helps customers put Flash to use where it will benefit their business the most, while simultaneously allowing them to extend the usefulness of their existing Fibre Channel and SATA drives.”

Precise for SAP BW Now Certified

The best run businesses depend on SAP, and SAP certified solutions, to run at peak performance.  SAP’s rigorous certification process is designed to increase customer peace of mind and ensure interoperability.  Precise has been providing comprehensive and innovative SAP certified performance management solutions for years.

Our first certification, “Precise for SAP NetWeaver Application Server” was achieved over two years ago.  On August 20th 2009, we certified our latest product, “Precise for SAP BW.”

Precise for SAP BW helps solve performance problems for ETLs, reports and ad-hoc queries.  It does this by correlating process chains, reports and queries to InfoProviders, tables, SQL statements, and even storage activity.

We are proud of achieving our SAP certification.  Our commitment to serving the needs of SAP’s customers with certified, scalable and best-practices based solutions helps reduce risk and increase productivity.

Product Focus
Letter from Vice President Engineering
- Avner Yonaei

Dear Customers and Friends,

Our objective in Precise Engineering is simple: deliver the most innovative application performance management (APM) solutions - period.  We are 100% committed to helping customers ensure the performance of their most critical business transactions – we are not distracted by competing product priorities or other emerging market opportunities.  Our experience helping over 1,000 leading companies around the world solve these important problems is the genesis of Precise Transaction Performance Management (TPM).

TPM by definition is end to end.  While there are many definitions of end to end, our support for all major packaged applications, J2EE, .NET, databases and storage means Precise has the most comprehensive definition in the market today. This allows our customers to manage transactions from user, batch or web services requests, through complex application layers and deep into storage.  TPM also provides deep diagnostic information about every tier across the entire transaction.

In our conversations with you, you told us that managing cloud computing and virtualized environments is a looming challenge.  We also heard that the new storage technologies such as flash and an explosion in your storage needs are creating additional complexity.  Optimizing storage performance and cost is more difficult than ever.  Through our collaboration with customers like you, Precise is developing innovative TPM solutions to meet these performance management challenges in 2010 and beyond.

Keeping up with the dizzying pace of change in the application market is difficult.  To stay one step ahead of your management needs, we have evolved our engineering processes to be more efficient and nimble.  In order to continue to hit our aggressive milestones, we have adopted the Agile software development methodology, using the SCRUM framework. This means we work in short development cycles of a couple of weeks (we call them Sprints), in which we incrementally add new functionality and create a Potentially Shippable Product (PSP).  As a result of our new Agile methodology, we are able to respond more quickly to important feature requests, bring them to market more quickly, all while ensuring a very high level of quality.

Many of you have noticed the positive change this has had on our release process with three new releases in the past year alone.  There is much more to come in 2010!

We know you trust Precise to monitor your most critical production environments so quality must go hand in hand with innovation.  We have baked a rigorous, automated quality assurance process into our product release cycle to ensure the highest levels of quality in the most transaction intensive environments.

For almost 20 years, listening to our customers has been the core of Precise innovation.  I look forward our continued collaboration.

Avner Yonaei

Get a Flip, win a trip!

At Precise, we believe that customers are at the heart of our success.  After 18 years, we still believe that direct customer access to our product and engineering organizations is what keeps our startup innovation alive.

Customer success is our inspiration.  We would like to capture your Precise story in a short video to inspire the Precise team to continue to do great things in 2010 and beyond.  These videos will only be used internally to highlight some of Precise’s biggest fans, and will NEVER be shown outside of Precise.

The first ten (10) to respond will get a FREE FlipHD video camcorder, along with a set of easy questions to answer in front of the camera.  Once we’ve received your videos, we’ll select a winner.  The winner will receive an all expense paid trip to San Francisco in February 2010 to present your story in front of our WW Sales team.
